Born and raised by Martha and Gibby in Somerset, Massachusetts, the Portuguese Princess with a Kick! has always been known as the dramatic (and the messy) one amongst the family. It just seemed like more fun to act out all sorts of things and eat olives off her fingertips, than to clean her room. So, that's what she did mostly. Lizz was involved in sports, school politics, yearbook clubs, the cafeteria, and the theatre...always the theatre. The acting bug hit at an early age while playing the letter "G" in kindergarten--Gooey Gum. From that point on, she knew she wanted to be on stage. After high school, North Adams State College was the place to lay the groundwork; then The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City; then several classes and workshops at One on One Productions; then the Food Network--she is a very good cook actually. Never one to sit idle, she has taught, directed, stage managed, done publicity, done technical work, given inspirational speeches, worked on playgrounds, babysat, biked, traveled, ate many exotic foods, cut her hair, let her hair grow, lost weight, gained weight, catered, slept...the list just goes on. In 1993, a friend was doing a cabaret, and on a whim, Lizz asked, "Hey, why don't you let me open up for you? I can do some stand up comedy." Well, that friend said sure, and Lizz had to write some material and get an act together for real...not just for the mirror, some stuffed animals, and the couch anymore! Although, they weren't a half bad audience. It was at that moment that the comedic styles of elisabeth a. furtado were introduced to living breathing human beings. In the year 2000, The Bleeps and Giggles Show was born thanks to the help of Richard Brooks. The rest as they say, is history. Well, it could be some day!
